Hi,

I'm reluctant to bother you with every little problem, but this is one I cannot seem to fix.

PC is a newly built, clean Windows 10 machine.  RackAFX is version 7.0.1.9.

Problem:

1/ I load any .wav file into RackAFX

2/ I press the play icon, or hit the space bar

3/ An error message comes up: Pa_OpenStream failed: Invalid Device

In 'Setup Audio Devices' everything appears correct:

Outside of RackAFX everything works perfectly.  I can play, and record, wav files using Reaper or Audacity.

I am totally flummoxed - can anyone help?

Thanks!

Steve

Sorry, it won't show my screenshots, but the links will take you to the correct place.

Ah, it might be fixed.  Will wrote about a similar error message in another thread, suggesting it's a driver problem.

So, I worked through all the options for Input Device and Output Device in the 'Setup Audio Devices' dialog, and found that just selecting '- Input' and '- Output' (with Driver Type 'MME') works.

I have no idea why it wouldn't work with any of the other devices listed, but I'm posting this in case anyone else has a similar issue.

Windows requires that the input and output drivers have the same time, WASAPI, MME, etc... If you are using Parallels, then it gets more complicated.

But, any Pa_stream failure message is because of some kind of incorrect setup in the audio drivers.
