Hi Jean,

I'm able to load the VST3s into Reaper, but only when I copy the 'inner' VST3 file to my VST3 directory, where Reaper knows to load them from.

I tried initially to copy the entire 'outer' VST3 structure, with subdirectories and the inner VST3 to my Reaper VST3 directory, however to no avail. Copying the individual VST3 files does work though for me.

Let me know if all my talk of 'inner' and 'outer' files doesn't make any sense.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks man! I want to know more about inner and outer files. Is there something to do within .rc file? if you can post a screenshot it will help a lot to understanding how to fix this issue.

Thanks again,

Cheers

Hi Jean,

So, naively assuming that you're running on Windows and using Visual Studio (which is the only example I can give you for now), each ASPiK project has a win_build directory, where the .sln is created upon running cmake, and is built using msbuild.

After running msbuild, you'll find a VST3 directory in win_build. The, assuming your build is set to Debug, then you'll find a vst3 file under VST3\Debug. This vst3 file is actually a directory, which includes a whole directory tree below it. The 'inner' vst3 file would then be in Contents\x86_64-win:

You can try copying either the 'inner' standalone vst3 file, which works for me, or copy the entire directory structure of the 'outer' VST3 file (i.e. directory) to your VSTPlugins directory, where Reaper expects to find VST plugins to load.

Let me know how you get on!

Ok, I fixed the issue but don't we need to keep these files?

- Contents

- desktop.ini

- PlugIn.ico

I really don't get why REASON doesn't want this files but if it's like that so keep it go 🙂

Thank you,

Jean

Hi Jean,

I don't fully understand it myself, I could only get Reaper to load my plugins if I copied the <Pluginname>.vst3 file from win_build\VST3\Debug\<Pluginname>.vst3\Contents\x86_64-win\ to the directory where Reaper knows to search for VST Plugins/

Perhaps someone else can shed some light on this?

(I linked to a screenshot in my previous post, but this doesn't seem to load, apologies for that, but you seem to have understood what I meant)

I see! I just copied the .vst3 from its place\x86_64-win\ and then pasted the VST3 folder.

Thanks man

Hopefully it's sorted now, and we'll get an explanation of this VST3 structure at some point in the future!

Cheers.
