Hello,

I have been following the YouTube tutorial () and tried holding Shift and right-clicking on the blank grey UI of the volume plugin in Ableton Live 10 but the menu item for "Open UI Description Editor" is not appearing.

Could you please let me know if there is a different combination of keys I should be using or if I need to do something different in the build process?

Thanks!

Are you using ASPiK v1.6.4? I made a big AU change to the GUI stuff in that to correct the same issue but with FL Studio. Please let me know which ASPiK version you are using; the 1.6.4 just came out a couple of weeks ago.

Sure, thank you for your reply. I checked the version.txt file which does say: Release Notes 1.6.4.

Not sure if this is relevant but I am on Windows 10. My husband is a producer and he says he has been having issues with Windows 10 and Ableton.

OK, good to know. I was testing with Ableton MacOS. And the issues we had were all involving Cocoa and Mac.

The GUI Designer is enabled with a compiler flag that is only set during DEBUG configurations. In Visual Studio, you can find this setting in the C++ Preprocessor setting. The flag is VSTGUI_LIVE_EDITING so the first thing I would ask is for you to check and see if this flag is in place. My spring break is coming up so I will have time to address this and maybe do a new release.

OK I found it - there is a typo in the preprocessor. I will fix this and update but in the meantime it is easy to patch. In Visual Studio, open the C++ Preprocessor tab and note the preprocessor defs for the Debug builds. You can see a flag named DVSTGUI_LIVE_EDITING=1 and the typo is the "D" so change this to VSTGUI_LIVE_EDITING = 1 and you should be good to go. This has to do with CMake requiring you to append a "D" to the script commands, which usually get removed.
