Hi There - I just tested ASPiKreator this morning again, and had no issues on Mac or Windows.
And, it needs to be run out of the native folder in the ASPiK SDK - you can't move it to other locations. In the Windows exe directory are added support files: 7za.exe, ereiamjh and hjmaiere, which are both encrypted ZIP files. The Mac version has these added files embedded in its bundle.
When you use the recommended built-in template, it uses those ZIP files to generate the blank project. When you use the PluginTemplate, it uses that folder to generate the project, and this option allows you to customize the new projects if you add files, etc...
For Windows, that 7za.exe file is the un-zipper and if that is not present, or does not run, then you will get a blank project. If you use the PluginTemplate option (lower right of the App), then that PluginTemplate folder needs to be in the proper folder hierarchy to be found, which is why the App needs to be run out of the native folder. I am hoping that your virus scanner is not preventing the unzip from running, but I had no issues with Bitdefender.
LMK - I have one other user with the same issue and I am puzzled; it should not be a big issue but I did make a change in this (ZIP vs. PluginTemplate) to try to make the app as bullet-proof as possible while still allowing customization. Ultimately, we will get it figured out.
Ahhhhhh, ok it was about the Template source, i just ticked the secure template and when clicking on PluginTemplate (custom) it worked. Sorry for wasting your time.
And I have a little question. How do I allow it to use the "include FX objects C++ Files" option ? it just doesn't let me thick it, as you do in your video explaining how to make the project
Well, the secure template should work just the same (and you can't mess it up) so I am still confused about why you are getting a blank project - not a waste of my time at all!
The ASPiKreator will launch the 7za.exe and extract the empty project with those two oddly named files (they are really .zip files that have a 128-bit password, and they must be present) and this should be transparent to the user as the unzipping produces no window or added output. I would still like to follow up with you to try to find out why the zipped versions do not work for you; this would mean giving you a custom test version of the .exe that would have some extra dialog boxes that confirm parts of the operation.
The "Include FX objects" was removed (I need to remove the check box too) because these are published in my FX plugin book. I had to move them to the website for download (free, and no license needed). There is a blurb and link to that in the ASPiK Documentation at the top here (it is also repeated in a few other locations in the Docs)
The link is here: https://www.willpirkle.com/Downloads/fxobjects.zip
Let me know if you are willing to do a test for me with the zipped file version.
Rather than delay the release of the new ASPiK, I changed the ASPiKreator for Windows so that when the project is created, the message box includes a checkbox to write a diagnostic file, named diagnostics.txt.
If you have the same issue with the latest version (1.6.7), check that box and upload the contents of the TXT file to this thread (it is very short, only about 25 lines of text).
Well, this is actually strange. I had all the plugin_dev files in my desktop folder, it runs in oneDrive, I don't know what happened when I changed the folder to the C: drive root folder due to a compiling error. The error may be because of administrator permissions in the desktop i suppose. Now when I tried both versions of ASPiK, it just works. It's actually strange, at least it works . Thanks for the help!
Thanks Will, I am not sure what happened but after a few computer restarts it is finally working. My mac cannot seem to close ASPiK properly outside of hitting the exit button on the UI. So I think there was something going on with the variable setting process.
All working now! Sorry it came about from me mentioning I was 'hacking' the app but this is a fantastic change!
