I have followed your book and tutorials. I am stuck on the second video when I try to build on xcode, and I get the an error when I try the command build.

Command /bin/sh failed with exit code 2

Could you help me with this?

Hi

Well it would help to know what kind of plugin you are compiling, ASPiK version, SDK version, etc... but it looks like it might be VST3 since it runs a post build script. I think you are seeing the validator fail, and there is a similar thread about the Windows version here:

https://www.willpirkle.com/forum/compiler-errors-warnings/i-get-the-error-the-command-setlocal-during-my-vst-plugin-compilation/

In XCode you can see the validator errors in the log.

Steinberg just released a new SDK 3.6.14 and it is NOT qualified with ASPiK yet (mainly due to VSTGUI4). I am doing an update and will check all the demo projects again for any errors.

Hello,

Thank you for your response. I am compiling a SDK version for both AU SDK and VST 3. The errors are coming out of the VST3. I am using a MAC. I downloaded an older VST, but I now get this error:

Build failed:

#include "public.sdk/source/main/pluginfactory.h"

#include "vst3plugin.h"

If I look into my files, they are included. Maybe you could send me a link with a VST that does work? I have been getting mine from Steinberg like the book says.

Update,

I downloaded some other VST versions, and I was able to find to those files. I put those files in the VST I was using and then it worked.

Hi Dan:

ASPiK has just been updated to work properly with VST3 SDK 3.6.14 and VSTGUI4.9

https://www.willpirkle.com/forum/current-version-and-update-info/aspik-latest-release-v1-6-3/

It is critical to make sure you are using the proper SDK for the ASPiK release you are using.

In general, when VST and AAX SDKs change, low level and underlying files often get changed (sometimes renamed, sometimes deleted altogether), which then requires me to make changes to the ASPiK SDK. In the latest ASPiK release, which I did on Dec 23 2019, the new AAX SDK did not require a single change to the ASPiK core code. The new VST3 SDK did require a few changes but minor.

It is a bad idea to mix files from different SDK versions together when using ASPiK or any other framework because things can spin out of control really quickly.

So, I'd advise updating the ASPiK SDK to (properly) use the VST3 3.6.14 SDK and get rid of mixed-files. In addition, if targeting AAX, you will need to update to AAX SDK 2p3p2. See https://www.willpirkle.com/forum/aax-and-aspik/aspik-1-6-3-and-aax/
