It's possible that I'm doing something wrong, but I find that RackAFX seems to have a bug that prevents mono files from working properly. The meters indicate that it is playing in both left and right channels, but I can only hear audio from the left speaker. I've had to convert my audio files to stereo to be able to use them for testing my plugins within RackAFX.

Here is a link to one of my mono audio files. I believe the file was created by Native Instruments Maschine, though I have also had issues with mono files that I downloaded from online sample libraries.
I get this audio problem even before I modify any of the code in a new project.
I downloaded and played the file in RAFX without issues. It is 24-bit data which can sometimes be problematic due to the way the 3-bytes are aligned (see my Synth Book Chapter 10 for a bit more info on WAV files with samples).
I also tested this file with a couple of plugins - no problems, and using insert/aux modes with all channel combinations.
Does this sample play properly in RAFX with no plugin loaded?
Are you using this sample just to play through FX or for the Synth Book projects?
The Synth Book Project Vector Synth uses a bunch of mono WAV files, but they are 16-bit, not 24-bit (I don't think that would matter, though).

This is a strange case. It does not play properly with no plugin loaded.
Perhaps the problem is caused by my audio configuration. It is probably worth mentioning that I do my programming on my desktop PC, but am forced to use headphones since my external audio interface is only compatible with my MacBook.
I initially used the samples for the audio effects book projects, though I now use these samples for my own custom effects projects.

UPDATE:
I ran into a similar issue with mono files playing out of one speaker only - it turned out to be due to the ASIO driver/setup for my audio adapter (a Presonus 44VSL). When using that diver, mono files would play out of one speaker only, until I opened the AudioBox application and adjusted the pan setting for the channel in question.
When you see the LED meters light up for both left and right channels in RackAFX, then that is confirmation that the buffers are being loaded properly to be shipped out to the driver layer.
