I am working through the 2nd edition of the Plugin book. I have a question I am hoping someone can help me out with. On page 218 and 219, it talks about estimating the frequency response. The books states to "draw a line from the point on the circle to the pole and measure the length of this vector". It then shows a graph with these lines drawn and the measurements for each vector. For instance it shows three vectors with the measurements of 1.3, 1.8 and 1.9. My question is, how are these values calculated/measured. I understand the unit circle, I can locate pi, pi/2, pi/4 on the unit circle, I can draw lines, but I am not sure how to do the actual measurement to come up with these values? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you Â

Hey, I was wondering about this too since the author said "use graph paper to measure", but you can just use the distance formula in the complex plane like this.

I'm around the same point in the book, if you want to chat about the book or audio dsp email me at oneday8538@gmail.com or I'm on Discord oneday#8538
