I've been having some trouble using custom graphics with the LED Meter object. When selecting graphic files for the vuon and vuoff states, when pressing save the vuoff keeps getting stuck at knobvst or vuledoff. It doesn't let me select my custom file. I had to edit the xml code to select my file which does it fine.

There also isn't an option to select the inverted meter files. I did this via the xml file again but my file get cut off at the bottom. I check the size and it matches in the xml and in my file. Any idea what could be wrong?

Hi Hector

I had a similar report on the LED meter so I will check this and let you know.

But, the inverted meter requires that you set the meter in RackAFX to be inverted first, then you should get the inverted graphics. I will post more information later today.

I did a quick check and yes there is something funky going on with the LED meter's OFF graphic. However, I only ran into this issue when editing the meter alone (i.e. a meter object, or the meter template with the right-click on the meter alone).

I will fix this and have a new revision in a few days. Thanks for the report!

One other thing: when you add your custom LED graphics, are you going to the PNG tab and double-clicking on the new PNG file to set it's filter? You need to choose vuon or vuoff there.

Yup. I added in the resource file. Then set its category to vuon/vuoff or the inverted ones.

I have only been creating with the meter object alone only.

Yeah, I found the issue. It happens with the standalone LED meter, not the meter cluster (Template).

Already fixed the problem and will probably have a new rev on Monday, maybe sooner.

Thanks again,

Will

Thanks Will. Is the new rev coming out soon? I see the latest as 6.5.14.

I am finishing it up today with the LED meter fix. I also incorporated some stuff from other forum posts regarding the Save As function and the size of the project folders. You should get a notification in RackAFX when the new version is uploaded.

Hector

You should have gotten the new version by now. I tested the LED meter graphics import using a BIG ledmeter graphic. If you want to test it, you can download it here:

http://willpirkle.com/Download.....bigled.zip

I made several enhancements along the way, namely that the LED Meter object will automatically re-size itself when you change graphics files.

Thanks for the input/bug report!

Hi Will,

Thanks for the update. However, I still seem to be having problems with it. I tested your graphics and it seems to work ok but the graphics doesn't seem to align so nicely. Might be a setting of mine. My graphic gets cut off when I use it with vumeterinvertoff. The on graphic is ok, just the off meter is cut off

I've attached the files I used for the vumeterinvert below. I'm using the same files for the non-inverted one and it works fine. My led segments are 61 with a size of 15, 182.

Hi Hector

OK, I will check this out. Please give me some leeway - it is grad-thesis time right now so I am pretty saturated. And, end of semester is in 3 weeks.

I am planning a new release soon that has some major changes (all low-level, underlying stuff) so if there is still an issue I can address it in that rev.

Hi Will,

No problem I understand. No pressure about it. Looking forward to trying out the new release in the future.

FYI

This issue has been fixed in the new RAFX v6.6. The native rendering code didn't take into account LED graphics with borders where the LEDs were not distributed evenly across the whole graphic, so I subclassed it and altered the code.

In addition, I also added horizontal LED meters in both forward (left to right) and reverse (right to left) modes.

All the best,
- Will

Hey Will,

I have Rackafx version 6.8.16 and the invert meter functionality is none. However, I do remember seeing it maybe I am missing it?

I have custom graphics made to be horizontally reversed, the horizontal does work.

The images for the invertmeter are selected and created but not "selectable"

All metering functionality is working properly in v6.8 -- here is a quick test I did with built-in and custom meters using my "solid ugly meter" graphics:

Image Enlarger

You have to make sure that you tag your imported graphics properly so they will show up in the graphics lists for the LED Meter: vuon, vuoff, vuoninv, vuoffinv using the PNG tab in the GUI Designer and following the instructions from the video, and of course you need to select the correct number of LED segments - for solid meters like above, the number of LED segments equals the height (vertical meters) or width (horizontal meters) in pixels.

Also, for a custom meter to be inverted, it must be connected to a RackAFX meter which is also inverted - this is how the GUI designer picks the graphics to list. For horizontal VU meters you also check the Horizontal box.

I have followed all the correct steps.  But am at a lost on where the selection of the inverted meter takes place within the RackAfx GUI designer.

I have variables connected to meters that are selected to inverted and custom graphics also chosen as inverted.

But, there is no inverted object to be dragged and dropped or selected from the led meters or vumeter.

There's no inverted meter object - just the one LED meter object - it works for all meters, vertical, horizontal, inverted or not. When you connect it to an inverted RAFX meter, the ON and OFF graphics drop-lists automatically populate with the inverted meter graphics in your plugin's compiled resources.

For the horizontal meters, you may need to manually stretch the view out to the correct size by dragging on the red-outline.
