Hi,
I am at the first experiences with RackAFX (my true congratulations to the author .... a truly amazing work!!); I read the first 4 chapters of the book and I'm starting to make experiences with RackAFX environment: the first thing that seems strange is that if I use a mono Wav file, the LED strips L / R related to Input / Send (dB) are always active both. Same thing for the Output / Return LED strips, even excluding the C++ code instructions to copy the L channel to the R channel. Why this? Thanks (and sorry for my English..)

Hi Enzo

You are not the first person to ask this; it is also related to channel and FX routing. I posted a very long response here:

http://www.willpirkle.com/foru.....ects/#p288

When you have a mono file loaded, RackAFX just copes the single channel to the L and R input meters so they both contain the same information - common procedure for mono signals with stereo metering. However, the channel routing buttons (1->1, 2->2 and 1->2) play an important role in how the input and output data is treated. That is all covered in the link above. These modes also set the input and output channel count variables that are passed to your plug-in in the processAudioFrame() function. So, even if you have a mono file loaded and you are using one of the mono-input channel routings (1->1 or 1->2) your processAudioFrame() input channel count will still (properly) be 1 (mono).

Let me know if you need any more clarification.

Hey Will awesome book.
I am trying to capture audio from 5 different microphones simultaneously for processing.
The plugin currently supports 2 channels as a default.
In the previous link it is mentioned that a grad-student asked for more tha two channels for a thesis that involved surround sound (I assume he needed output channels).
Is there a way to manage 5 different input channels in RackAFX?

Hi Enzo

Not in the current version, though I may add this either in the next revision (which is delayed due to a new GUI feature I'm working on) or the revision planned for the end of summer.
