The project folder that RackAFX creates must be located in the AAX SDK sub-folder named "ExamplePlugIns" along side the other sample projects. As with Make VST, you can make both Windows and Mac versions of your AAX plugins.
The Make AAX projects have self-contained VSTGUI code and do not require linking to any other libraries. As such you need to have the VSTGUI folder installed inside the AAX SDK folder hierarchy. Make AAX (and RackAFX v6.7) were designed with the latest version of VSTGUI at the time, which is VSTGUI4.3 that you can download from the VSTGUI SourceForge page. It will not work with previous versions of VSTGUI due to internal changes that were made in that library, which I can't do anything about.
The VSTGUI folder (named "vstgui4") must be located in the same "ExamplePlugIns" folder as your Make AAX Project folders so that it lies in parallel with the other AAX Projects (both the included samples as well as your own). I chose to place the VSTGUI folder here to avoid any conflicts with the AAX VSTGUI example, which requires a different location. The current version of the AAX-VSTGUI SDK example does not use VSTGUI4.3 (yet) so this will avoid complications when using their approach for other plugins, including the samples.
IMPORTANT: due to a known issue between AAX and VSTGUI4, you will need to replace the vstguibase.h file with a different version made for AAX. The file is located in:
and you can download and copy over the existing file with the AAX version here:
This file must be updated or you will get redefinition errors of datatypes (uint_32, etc...).
