I’m running Windows 7 and the compiler can’t be found even though it is installed and I have set it correctly in Preferences. What’s happening?”

You must login as Administrator in Win7 to allow RackAFX to spawn the compiler’s executable.

Hey

I'm running a Windows 8 x64 bit OS and everything is installed, however, I keep getting an error message saying 'Error in CreateProces() for compiler path'. every time I create a new project.

I tried running as administrator and I also am using an administrator account.. my friend recommended 'removing group policy' but I'm not sure how that would help. Please let me know what I can do

Thanks

Figure it out, I needed to install the right version of Visual Studio 2013

Yes, a common mistake is using Visual Studio "for Windows" rather than Visual Studio "for Windows Desktop" - the desktop version has Visual C++ while the other does not. Not sure if that was your problem, but thought I'd tag this on the thread as it is a widely read one.

"The compiler can't be found event though it is installed and I have set it correctly in Preferences." Actually, where can I verify that my compiler is installed? I know RackAFX is installed correctly and the compiler is setup correctly in RackAFX. Could my compiler not be installed correctly independent of RackAFX? Also, are there any other issues with my compiler as I am sure that RackAFX isn't picking it up. (I am using Visual Studio 2105 for Desktop Windows if that helps).

VS2015 should be located at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe

RackAFX asks your OS (via the Registry) for the location of the compiler's .exe which is named as above (devenv.exe).

You need the VS2015 that includes the C++ compiler (there are two of them, one for Windows Apps and the other for everything else). You can verify the correct version by starting Visual Studio then choosing File -> New -> Project and the resulting dialog box will have Visual C++ listed in the left pane (along with Visua C#, Visual Basic, etc...)
