Hello,

I successfully load my vst2 into Ableton, but I don't see why I can't see the custom GUI that I designed in rackafx gui designer.

I followed Will's video anyone knows how to load the GUI in ableton?

Thank you

In RackAFX hit the Edit button to see your Project Properties (or File -> Edit Project).

Do you have "Use Client's GUI" checked?

I tried both options on different VSTs.
"clients Gui"
and
"use rackafx custom gui"

with no luck...

EDIT:

I just noticed from you video that this is a very old "Make VST" video from a very old version of RackAFX. The new version of Make VST produces two projects - the old VST2 version (just for because I can) and a new VST2/VST3 version that is in the VST3 subfolder. The VST2/VST3 version is the one that has the new GUI designer stuff in it. The reason is that I use VSTGUI4 (the new GUI library) that only works in VST3. The VST2/3 version will run as a VST2 plugin just by renaming .vst3 to .dll and I think this is also documented in the videos.

So, that's why your GUI is missing. You need to use the new VST3 ported plugin (which also means you need the VST3 SDK installed on your computer too). There are two videos on the homepage at http://www.willpirkle.com that show the VST2/3 and Custom GUI.

Oh ok,
it's making sense so...
-I downloaded vst3 sdk and add it as reference in vs2013 express

-I followed your video

-Copied the VST3 folder into VST3 SDK>public.sdk>my project >windows > DELAYDRAFT

but run into this:

View post on imgur.com

-as you can see there's no VSTcontroller.cpp and .h after using the "make vst" and using vst3 folder
-base_vc9 (needs migration) and plus it appears that it doesn't find the libraries

Ok I made it work!!!!LaughLaugh

I followed the steps that you described here:
http://www.willpirkle.com/foru.....the-error/

it appears that the SDK works when it's on the C:// directory

The Make VST option produces a VST project that uses the SingleComponentEffect object, rather than the dual-object processor/controller paradigm, so that is why there is only one set of object files. Otherwise, yeah the VST3 SDK is sensitive to file location.
