I am having some trouble getting example projects to compile. I am wondering how to alter the build configuration so I don't get this error:

Error 4 error MSB3191: Unable to create directory "C:\Users\willpirkle\AppData\Roaming\RackAFX\PlugIns". Access to the path 'C:\Users\willpirkle\AppData\Roaming\RackAFX\PlugIns' is denied. C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft.Cpp\v4.0\V110\Microsoft.CppBuild.targets 1177 5 ConvolveIt

In this case, the error is occuring for the ConvolveIt project but it occurs for other example projects as well, and I don't know enough about the VS build configuration to fix it. Guidance would be appreciated.

Hi

You need to open the project from within RackAFX the first time rather than compiling the downloaded project straight-away.

When you open the project in RackAFX, one of the things it does is to find your AppData and modify the .vcproj and .vcxproj files accordingly. Once this change has been made, you can compile your project as usual.

We also had a similar issue with a user whose User Name (on the Computer) contained a special character (ü) -- does your username have any special characters?

I don't have any special characters in my username, so, your suggestion is working perfectly. This issue has been popping up unexpectedly for a while now and I really appreciate you addressing it. Thanks.

Great - yeah, the way RackAFX works to create/modify projects and write code for your projects is unique, but you still need to use it as the front-end, even if you are trying to compile to use the DLL only as VST2/VST3 natively (which I am guessing is your plan).

One other thing, the new version of RAFX is in beta testing now. It allows you to compile your plugin as a 64-bit native VST2 and/or VST3 plugin as well as 32-bit. The current version has only the 32-bit capability. The release should happen in the next 4-5 weeks or so.
