I am curious is there anyway to change text from outside the Cviewcontainer and the CTextEdit. Something to the extent of.

m_pContainer->m_pNameEdit->setText("working fine")

No you can't do that directly. You need to cache the pointer to the edit control. 

Or, is it possible to addView to the GUI directly without being within a parent container. something to the extent of.


All views must have a parent view container, but you can access the outer-most view container from any view with getFrame( ) -- the frame object is the highest level view container which holds all the sub-views. See the final module in the Advance GUI API tutorials which shows how to create GUIs programmatically - though you aren't doing this directly, the tutorial has a lot of insider information about how VSTGUI really operates.
